For the less ‘techie’ of us, I think we might focus more efforts on content generation or product creation and use Alexa as a reference.

You’d probably have read the part in the post “Alexa is not a comprehensive metric, but itâ€™s useful to get a rough indication of your traffic and itâ€™s origins.”

Alexa’s measurements are also subject to the toolbar installation.

I think as you read my post, you’ll have an idea where my position lies.

It’s useful as a ballpark measure, and as a publicly accessed metric, one of the most commonly used.

Any stat can be gamed, if you know how.

Traffic itself is a neutral metric and just a means towards building readership or income generation.

Do you really think Alexa is accurate as far as getting an idea of traffic? It is so easily manipulated, in fact, I just did a post on that on my tech blog - I’ve seen people game Alexa to get their rankings to drop in weeks.
