Hi Ade,
tks for your comments.

I don't believe social traffic falls into the 'latest tech fad' category.

It's merely an evolution of the human-to-human contact that's evolved from forums.

i feel that successfully implemented social traffic sites would fall into a Forums2.0 category (if such a buzzword did arise).

Social Traffic has finally come of age with the sucess of companies like You Tube and Myspace which were eventually bought out by the big guns Google and Yahoo respectively. People online are beginning to see the advantages of joining and participating in Web2.0 related sites as a traffic generation technique that doesn't need to cost much. And smaller established sites like Mybloglog, Squidoo etc are also popping up everywhere online to take advantage of the latest tech fad at the moment.

Tony: i'd think getting onto the top page of digg, delicious, yahoo, google more often will generate more buzz marketing for your site. it's clearly a case to post more 'pillar' articles/posts.

interested: i believe it's a social principle that we'd promote the people we trust. when someone i'm familiar with posts a comment here, i'm more likely to approve the comment. if it's someone newer, i'd check that they're not linking to a splog or the landing page for an affiliate product.

Hi.

I have a question on your comment about the active participation among networking sites and inner circle blogs?

Would that be like a self-promoting circle? Just like the "A" bloggers that only comment and link to one another, eventually, that bubble of exclusivity will burst.

You are on to something there.. Personally I don't usually subscribe myself to new blogs right away, but if I catch myself returning to the same author from multiple sources, I'll take note of RSS.

Social traffic? We'll see what happens. One of my predictions is that getting on front page of digg for separate posts, two days in a row will have a much stronger lasting effect than any individual spike. The emphasis here is on the _separate_ posts. Returning to exact same one from multiple sources is not as good.
