It just happens, Andrew. Sometimes i get into "sales watching" mode where I just sit and stare at the PC to see how many sales I made - ie getting lazy.

I've never had a day without any type of sale (own product or affiliate) in recent time, but it get near zero for a few days. And I was worried, but when I look back, why was I watching sales in the first place :)

I should be out there marketing, and marketing some more.

As for the few days with near zero sales, who knows what happened. Nothing changed, it's just that I consider the income to be of 2 different types (1) active income and (2) passive income.

I gues my tru passive income level, if i decide to retire tomorrow, just isnt enough. I still need to blog, send out emails, contact people. The poor days were actually a result of me getting lazy a few weeks ago, and it's just starting to show.

Hi Kumiko,
I'm saying if you're ONLY relying on a single "adsense templates" or a "super duper affiliate marketing" type of product, you'll eventually hit a plateau, hence the case for business planning and laying the groundwork for a comprehensive multi-layered plan.

All the points you refer to should already have been covered in the research stage. I'd have discovered my competitors and any negative publicity BEFORE I launch a marketing campaign. Else there likely will be severe consequences.

Have I read this right?

When my sales drop off and business is suddenly going bad, I should change my mindset?

How about doing some research and trying to find out exactly why it happened? Could be due to another product on the market, a low sale period, a saturated market base, negative press, etc.

Isn't trying to discover the reason behind it the first step?
