Traced to this article from a post started in the middle of last year in IMS forum. This article is well written and really thoughtful. Pretty much sums up how to behave in a forum.

Hi Andrew, Your blog's doing great! I'm blown away too!

This post makes alot of sense. I mean it's just basic courtesy and common sense not to just enter a forum and start selling. It just feels wrong.

Anyway, keep up the good work and see you around man..

Well that's precisely because those noobs bring along with them zero experience in forum management/interaction. I'm also a moderator in another forum and the moment I see spam, it gives me the kicks to delete them straight.

[...] Re: spamming Internet Marketing Singapore forums spamming = 1) repeating the same topic in multiple categories 2) posting unrelated content (eg. posting the URL for your custom made jewellery shop in the business building section, --unless you have a strong internet marketing component). 3) blatantly promoting some seminar or inserting your affiliate product. 4) URL spamming/linkbaiting - unnecessary insertion of URLs into your posts for SEO or other dubious purposes. i think most of the admins/mods here have at least 10 years of experience with dialup BBSes/IRC/IM (instant messenger)/forum/MMPOGs spaces to be able to deduce the intentions of most posters. so we probably have seen many of the 'tactics' employed by spammers. If you want to promote something, do it first to help your fellow IMS members, then if you do make some affiliate income as a bonus, all the power to you. If you want to establish yourself here (or on another forum/blog/website), you might find it useful to read: --> Build up your Internet Marketing Goodwill Bank __________________ Andrew Wee WhoIsAndrewWee.com: Blogging and Affiliate Marketing specialist The great Robert Allen book giveaway [...]
