Yahoo! MyBlogLog Goods And Branding With Corporate Colors August 29, 2007
Posted by Andrew Wee in : Internet Marketing Branding , trackbackOne of the perks of being a member of the MyBlogLog Advisory Group was getting a schwag bag in the mail yesterday.
My daughter Bianca was pretty excited about it:

Opening the box revealed…
Purple wrapping paper?
And…
A haul which included:
- MyBlogLog decals
- A Yahoo! pen and pencil
- A Yahoo! bumper sticker
- Purple Gummi bears (in rapid extinction as I write)
- Purple gumballs (also in scarce supply as I write)
- A Yahoo! pin
It’s great to feel appreciated.
I was a little confused though, because judging by Yahoo! web pages:
I’d have thought the corporate colors might be red and white, but it’s actually purple.
Take a look inside the purple house of Yahoo!
So I learned that one of Yahoo’s corporate colors is purple today, though it was a little confusing initially.
To build a strong brand identity in the marketplace, do note that colors are as much as part of your identity as the look of your blog template and sales and landing pages.
PS: My thanks to MyBlogLog Community Manager Robyn “Sleepyblogger” Tippins for the schwag.

Cool Stuff. I guess the package was to generate some buzz and it did.
What do you thing of schwag in the blogging arena? Should more bloggers give away stuff?
BeachBum
Hi Michael,
Good question. Giving away stuff or any other type of promotion should fit into an overall strategy.
Giving away ’stuff’ for the sake of creating some excitement only creates short term traffic - In my opinion it’s better to spend some effort understanding your audience and creating something that meets their needs.
It might be free, it might be low cost or it might be priced at a premium, the most important factor is to help them achieve whatever goal that made them come to your blog in the first place…
Cut picture of Bianca you got there!
My wife told me that she looks just like you and then she starts worrying that our kid will look just like me. LOL.
That stuff you had … probably the cost of FedEx beats their prices. They must have this considered very well before giving away such a costly stuff.
Fidens
Hi Fidens,
Should I be concerned that your wife looks like me…?
I’m jealous of your freebies… especially the Yahoo! pencil. lol
Chris,
Read and weep!
My favorite was probably the gumballs.
