ALWAYS WAIT TO SEE THE PAYMENT IN YOUR ACCOUNT WITH YOUR OWN EYES BEFORE POSTING, WHETHER THEY SAY IT’S DONE OR NOT, WHETHER YOU GET EMAILS SAYING IT HAS OR NOT, WHETHER THEY SOUND NICE AND HONEST OR NOT. i just had to chase my item because i posted it before reading this page. too much time energy and trust gone in one day for my liking.

Am Nigeria, born in the uk always lived in the uk, am sorry to say any nigerian, that isn’t in UK is a scammer I love ebay, that’s where I shop when am so broke, I have never scammed anyone before, until 2 idiotic nigerians tried to scam me, was my first time selling a i phone 4s, after christmas and this person offered £600 I was happy, so I stupidly gave them my paypal account and I received spoof messages, bearing in mind am a teenager, whose clever than them, and a computer brainier at that I was able to unmask the email address only to discover its fake, then the other buy claimed to be from the uk, her ebay address showed that, but wants me to ship to nigerian, and last night fed my inbox with 30 fake ebay and paypal messages even threatening me. Be careful, am ashamed to be nigerian, even though I am only half, they all need to die, and be destroyed scammers, thieves, loser, and bums. Be careful

I’m really sorry and at d same time so sad about all these internet/ebay scams by Nigerians because I’m also a Nigerian. But for everyone who has been scammed, isn’t there a way ebay and the shipping companies can help in tracking these criminals in Nigeria? You have their details, which are the receiver’s name, address and telephone number. The truth is that some people will have to receive the goods once they are delivered to the given addresses. Those people should be the prime suspects because they will definitely have a link or relationship with the criminals.

I’m so positive that the Nigerian police and EFCC (Economic & Financial Crime Commission) will be of great help because even the Nigeria Government is committed to bringing criminals like this, who tarnish the good image of our great country, to book.

almost fell for these scammers.posted a phone for sale on local bidding site free shipping. a guy claimed his wife is from the UNITED NATIONS and he is willing to shoulder even the shipping fee.gave me his details. then thank god i googled it first.since i felt funny about the deal and he asked me to give him my paypal details.

Money as already been debited from my paypal account and
it’s pending
on there database ,once you have confirmed the shipment
barcode with
paypal your account will be credited
trying to get me to send item of as the money is supposably pending in paypal saying that when i send the tracking number the money will get released lol full of s**t watch out for these nigerian scammers.

it seem PayPal wants to confirm the shipment bar code from you before releasing the debited money from my account to yours according to the email notification i received from their customer care as i have just contacted them,it’s being held by them so they can secure and monitor the transaction.please kindly confirm this with paypal.

I am a Nigerian (in the UK). I won’t even try to pretend I can convince everyone (or anyone for that matter ) on this forum that not all of us are like that.

But you must believe me, there are lots of good well meaning ones out there. It is the same scum of the earth ones who keep carrying out these fraudulent activities. When I was in the uni, I got scammed and sent my phone to some dubious buyer back home in my own country. On top of that, I ended up with a bill from the courier company for £90. At the time, I was leaving in a share flat and needed the money for other stuff. Since then, I NEVER EVER EVER send anything to Nigeria. My own country. I am a highly rated power seller on eBay and have never resorted to scamming buyers. NIGERIA is permanently barred from my auctions.

My best advise is NEVER to send anything to Nigeria. If you have to, then watch out for these and run if you spot any of them:
1. Very poor English
2. Email in HTML code rather than normal one
3. Item being requested to be sent to an address other than the one belonging to the buyer (usually to purported uncles, brothers, etc in Nigeria).
4. If there is need for urgency and this is persistently stressed.
5. Addresses in shomolu, bariga, ajegunle, oshodi and a host of others (these are some if the most run down, poorest areas in Lagos, Nigeria.
6. Sometimes, they will email you a bar code or some other courier documents. Ignore it.
7. If they request that you receive payment via western union (even though you ave said that you only accept PayPal). NEVER EVER accept or send money via this means. It is almost untraceable and irreversible (unlike PayPal).
8. ALWAYS check your PayPal to confirm money has been put in it. Do not rely on links sent to you as they are usually phishing mails created by the scammers and cloaked as ‘PayPal’. PayPal will not ask you to click on any link. You can actually send the email to PayPal to verify it, though careful inspection will point out several errors.
9. Sometimes, they tell you takes that are meant to make you feel sorry for them (sob stories).
10. They offer you payment far in excess of what the item costs. Who in their right mind will offer you £400 for a £90 phone??

Finally, like I said before, there are decent hardworking NIGERIANS. But there are rotten, creepy unscrupulous ones who will scam you at the first opportunity. It is usually the same set of people using several identities who carry out the same act over and over again till they get lucky. Nigeria is made up of nearly 160 million citizens of which about a few thousand get involved in these scams. Just very unfortunate.

Yeah pretty much if you ever get someone requesting you to mail an item to Nigeria, of all places, it’s a scam!

Also if they state that the item is for someone else and mention that it’s “urgent”, it’s a scam.

I English, spelling and grammar are bad, combined with the above mentioned, its DEFINITELY A SCAM.
