I wrote a lengthy, by my standards, look at BlogRush today and I pretty much agree with everything you've said here. You can drive a semi truck through the holes in the system BlogRush has in its current state. Having said that, I think it's salvageable for people running blogs in categories that haven't been totally ruined by its referral system yet.

I'm not a blogger so I don't have a horse in this race, but here are the two key points about Blog Rush:

1. As you mention, if you write a great headline, you'll get more clicks, and hence more impressions. As you also point out, 'great' doesn't mean high CTR, it means high quality and hence high conversion. Same principle as Adwords.
2. If you don't have a lot of readership, you lose, even if you have a high CTR on your BlogRush impressions.

I'd be careful with it.

Thanks for the great read. I am a newbie and I have just been joining everything, spreading myself really thin just trying to get traffic and do what everyone else is doing. You gave some great insight and I will begin to be more selective and concentrate on traffic quality instead of traffic quantity.
