Both ARE important and I'm sure you get that sense reading the post again.

The "Who you are" factor also plays a part too.

If you're Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Larry or Sergei, and you're blogging once a quarter, or even once a year, there'll be a heck of a lot of traffic headed your way regardless.

Both quality and quantity are important IMO. If you write good stuff, but only once a month - people might not be visiting your blog always. If you post 50 entries a day, with rubbish - that will scare people away. The best is to balance both quantity and quality to maintain a good readership.

Hey Andrew,

I think in starting the blog, one has to "build up the archives" with more pages to get an initial flow of traffic. Once the traffic is stable, quality content will prove to be more powerful.

Totally agree with you... have being posting a lot on my own blog and I find creating content on blog is not an easy task to do..

Especially when you do it daily and having to sit down for 1 hour to just think what can be wrote today for your readers to read to make it viral is quite important..

I felt the best way to have quality content is just be very honest in your content and people will more likely to like what you post and come back to learn more.. =)
